26 Ukrainian students between ages 13 and 17 are on the waitlist.

The Ukraine-USA Pen Pal Program connects American and Ukrainian students through email. They are matched to each other by age, hobbies, and career plans. Many Ukrainian teachers are waiting for American instructors to bring the program into U.S. classrooms.

Sasha Morgun, 13, from Horodnia, wrote his essay for the program’s 2026 collection with three hours of electricity. He signed off: “P.S. FPV sends its regards.” It was a sardonic joke. FPV is a first-person view drone.
